YouTuber Arrested for Falsely Claiming to Spend Day at Bengaluru Airport

Bengaluru: A 23-year-old YouTuber from Bengaluru found himself in trouble after allegedly fabricating a video claiming he spent an entire day at Kempegowda International Airport. Vikas Gowda, a resident of Yelahanka, was apprehended by authorities for his misleading antics.

Reportedly, on April 7, Gowda entered the airport under the guise of boarding a Chennai-bound Air India flight. However, instead of proceeding with his travel plans, he wandered the airport premises for approximately six hours, capturing footage on his mobile phone.

Subsequently, on April 12, Gowda uploaded the video to his YouTube channel, boasting about his purported adventures within the airport’s confines. His content, which garnered attention from his sizable subscriber base of nearly 1.13 lakh, depicted him traversing various sections of the airport, allegedly without detection.

However, Gowda’s claims unraveled when airport security discovered the ruse on April 15. Following a complaint from a Central Industrial Security Force official, authorities swiftly took action. Gowda was booked under Sections 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief) and 448 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code.

Investigations revealed Gowda’s motives were rooted in a quest for publicity, with authorities branding his assertions in the video as exaggerated. Although briefly detained, Gowda was later released on bail pending further legal proceedings.

This incident serves as a cautionary tale against the fabrication of sensational content for personal gain, highlighting the repercussions individuals may face for misleading the public and authorities alike.
